My favourite thing to do with a finished embroidery piece is to make it into a cushion. It's extremely satisfying to make an object that is not only beautiful, but useful.
One of the most requested things when I launched Tall Sky was whether I supplied material to make the kits into cushions - so I have listened!
Starting with the new 2026 square kits, I will be offering a square of backing material of the same colour as the kit, and a pompom trim.
These are designed to be 35/35cm cushions, so you will need a 37/37cm cushion insert, which are widely available (you always need to get an insert that's a bit bigger than the cushion to fill it properly.)
Then, if you're a real pro, you can sew it into a cushion yourself, or you can take it to any Dry Cleaner/ Alterations shop near you and they will make it for you.
